On 15 October, in Brussels, the Cloche d'Or shopping centre, managed by NHOOD Luxembourg, won the prize for "best shopping centre" at the "Excellence Awards Shopping Retail 2020-2021", organised by the BLSC (Belgian Luxembourg Council for Retail and Shopping Centres). The BLSC represents and brings together retail and commercial real estate professionals in Belgium and Luxembourg. This is an opportunity to look back at the rapid success of this site, which was built just two years ago.
Beyond the commercial project and its proposal, we want to contribute to the animation of the neighbourhood and the making of the city of tomorrow: friendly and sustainable urban spaces, with a positive impact for the inhabitants and our planet.
Matteo Perino, General Manager @NhoodLuxembourg.
Cloche d'or : The spirit of department stores
Designed to meet the expectations of 45,000 inhabitants who will live, work and study in the district by 2030, Cloche d'Or is the first mixed-use project developed in partnership with Promobe, covering an area of 75,000m2, overlooked by 250 luxury homes.
A high-end shopping centre, equipped with a 12,500m2 Auchan lifestore, it offers a new visitor experience that combines a pop-up store spirit with the best of shopping centres. A local and international dynamic.
Fashion, beauty, health, food, watches, services... Cloche d'Or offers a selection of 115 shops, almost half of which are being offered in Luxembourg for the first time. Since July 2021, 7 new brands have been added to the commercial offer. The latest coffee shop concept from Columbus Café & Co, a "Jour" salad bar, K-way, Guess Activewear and the jeweller Edora. Finally, "KindyRoo" accompanies parents in their child's first steps, thanks to a programme of games and activities that stimulate intellectual development and motor skills.

Cloche d'or : incubator of local creativity
Since 2020, thanks to its pop-up store dynamic, Cloche d'Or has been offering Luxembourg creators, producers and associations spaces of expression in order to propose new formats to its customers. Among the 20 pop-ups already welcomed, visitors were able to discover the artists "Sophia Rein", who fuses painting and photography, "Jacques Schneider", who plays with the codes and symbols of the country, and visit the "Sezim" gallery, which exhibits a collection of chyrdak, a traditional Kyrgyz carpet that is listed as an intangible cultural heritage site by UNESCO. Fashion fans discovered "La Malle de Lux" and its boutique of multi-brand treasures, "Jael Curiel&Co", a Luxembourg designer of trendy bags, and "PardonMyCloset", which makes second-hand fashion so trendy. These pop-ups are also an opportunity for associations to raise public awareness and carry out meaningful actions. The "Cancer Foundation" was able to deploy information campaigns and "Ecotrel" recovers end-of-life appliances in order to repair them for reuse.
The Pop-Ups are a way of affirming Cloche d'Or's desire to be a player that is open to its environment and a promoter of innovative and differentiating projects
Raphael Bouchet, Director of the shopping centre.
Cloche d'or is committed to the planet
From the outset, the shopping centre has been designed in a sustainable manner to limit its carbon footprint. It has a low energy consumption and installations that allow the recovery of the energy produced. NHOOD Luxembourg has succeeded in setting up an efficient organisation to improve its footprint on all activities linked to the operation of Cloche d'Or: to date, 100% of waste is sorted, of which more than 90% is recycled, while unsold goods are donated to the "Stëmm vun der Stross" association to fight against waste. These commitments have enabled Cloche d'Or to be awarded the BREEAM excellent environmental certification in 2019, and to obtain the Luxembourg "Superdreckskëscht" certification.
The Cloche d'Or shopping centre is also a reflection of a new district, which has also been awarded the "GOLD" certificate by the "Deutsche Gessellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen" (German Society for Sustainable Building) for its ecological, economic, functional, socio-cultural and technical qualities.
