On 30/09, we inaugurate Estacion Vialia Vigo

Stay fit. Move sustainably!
Reading time 3 min.
This slogan from the last European Mobility Week, which took place from 16 to 22 September 2021, could have worked just as well for the opening of the Vialia Vigo station.
On September 30, the neighbors of this project led since 2017 by Nhood Spain and designed by the architect Thom Mayne, will be able to discover the new intermodal station of Vialia Vigo and, with it, a new quality of life.
For if this station is intended to be a place of passage and transition towards soft mobility, it is also intended to be a meeting place for the inhabitants of the city and the region.
The transition to soft mobility is a matter of urgency!
The Social Enterprise Creator Award is a competition to support and develop social entrepreneurship, organised in partnership with IESEG, a management school in Paris and Lille. The philosophy of this competition is to bring together the academic and business worlds around an entrepreneurial project. It allows the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs driven by the desire to do better for people and the planet, who have created their structure within the last 3 years. Each year, fifteen or so winners of the competition, selected from among sixty or so, have the chance to benefit from the personalised support of a voluntary and motivated 4th year student who will make his or her time, knowledge and skills available for one semester to support them in one of the areas proposed by the IESEG course. And because a project needs funds to get off the ground, the CEETRUS Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship is committed to paying out a total of €25,000 for the 4 most remarkable proposals after deliberation by a jury of social entrepreneurship experts who meet at the end of the semester.
The result?
• Viable and sustainable transport alternatives :
We have created a car park with 1,549 spaces to encourage the transition to other modes of transport. The train, of course, with the new high-speed line service, which is added to the regional destinations, but also all the other solutions for getting around the city: bus lines, pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths.
• Less need to travel :
If you want to leave your car behind, you have to be able to do without it. This is the aim of this new intermodal station, where you can also choose to stay. 125 shops provide access to all the necessary amenities. With its restaurants and sports facilities, you can now do everything in the same place, thus limiting the number of long journeys!
• Closer to work :
If there is one journey that is difficult to avoid, it is the one to get to work. That's why, since the start of the project, we have set up a platform to promote local employment. Initially on the site, with 900 jobs created, but also to keep this place alive on a daily basis over the long term. Reception, shop sales, catering and hotel jobs, service jobs... nearly 2,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created.

It makes you want to go further!
